Neil Barclay is a writer whose work blends emotional depth with psychological insight. Alongside his careers as a teacher and police staff trainer in crime recording, he also worked for more than twenty years as a composer for film and television, an experience that deepened his sense of atmosphere and storytelling.

He now lives in Devon with his wife, Alex, and their dog, Stanley, where he divides his time between writing and other creative pursuits.

Neil writes for both children and adults, exploring mystery, suspense, historical fiction, fantasy and psychological drama. His novels include the psychological thrillers Low Reach, The Way Back and Exposure; the historical novels The Silence of Rose Carter and the Second World War espionage thriller The Berlin File; the dystopian thriller The Harmony Directive; and the middle-grade fantasy adventures The Cloudborn Prophecy and The Silent Thread, the first two books in the Telluria series.

His newest releases include The Careful Dead, the first novel in the Slade & Hope Mysteries set in 1920s Bristol, and One More Chapter, a literary party game book packed with challenges for readers, book clubs and book lovers.

Whatever the genre, Neil’s stories are driven by compelling characters, hidden truths and the difficult choices that define us.
